Arborfield & Arborfield Green

Arborfield: Historic charm, modern allure, nestled in the heart of natural beauty.

Located between Reading and Wokingham, Arborfield is fast becoming a village of choice due to excellent schooling, easy access to both towns, yet still surrounded by open countryside. Arborfield is an ideal setting for those seeking a harmonious blend of rural tranquillity with modern convenience.

Historical Significance: Arborfield boasts a rich history, dating back centuries. The village roots can be traced to the Domesday Book of 1086, reflecting its medieval origins. Notably Old Church, a Grade II listed building, stands as a testament to the historical legacy with parts dating back to the 13th century. The nearby Arborfield Hall, a historic manor house adds to the area cultural history, requisitioned by the RAF during World War II, subsequently acquired by Reading university, and sadly demolished in 1955. Arborfield has a rich connection with the military, with the Garrison established in 1904, initially operated by the Army Remount services and supplied horses for both operational and ceremonial purposes. During World War II part of the garrison functioned as a Technical School for the Army, with the rest occupied by the Royal Artillery, which moved out just prior to the D-Day landings. After the war the Garrison became the home of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, until its closure in 2015

Local Amenities: Despite its serene ambiance, Arborfield & surround offers a range of local amenities to cater for residents needs, including Co-Op and Londis stores. The village hosts The Coombs Primary school, with Farley Hill recently opened in Arborfield Green, providing quality education for young families, as well as Bohunt Secondary School for 11- 16 year olds. The recently reopened Swan Public House, a great place to catch up and serves delicious food. For the outdoor enthusiasts, Arborfield Park is on the doorstep, with California Country Park a short distance away.

Property Market: Over the past decade, we have seen property prices increase within Arborfield area at a greater rate, than the surrounding areas, in the main due to the redevelopment of Arborfield Green, from Army Garrison to lovely, sustainable village, including increased amenities. However, it does remain better value for money than nearby Wokingham, but with the potential for continue growth. Reading's property market has witnessed consistent growth.

There is a complete spectrum of property within Arborfield area, from substantial and landed properties on the outlying roads, through modern apartments on Penrose Park and Arborfield Green.  2-, 3-, 4- and 5-bedroom family homes, range from Victorian splendour to brand new fineries.  With the cost per square meter lower than surrounding towns, Arborfield is a great option for families looking for high quality housing, in a great place to live.
